Privacy policy.

The short version first. Then the long one, for the people who read the long one. (We see you. Respect.)

Memo from Management · the short version
  • We collect what we need to run the Department: your name, your email, what you buy, and how you move around the site.
  • We never sell your information for money.
  • The photo you add to your Department ID badge stays on your phone or computer. We never see it, upload it or save it.
  • Visiting from Europe, the UK or Switzerland? We turn off analytics, screen-replay and advertising tools for you. Same if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
  • Want to see, fix or delete what we have? Email [email protected]. We’ll take care of it.

01 Who we are

This site is run by Tamra Michelle Wells, doing business as The Quantum Leap Department (“we,” “us,” “the Department”). Despite the stamps and the seal, we are not a government agency. We are a very small business with a very good seal, and this page explains how we handle your information.

02 What we collect

Things you tell us. Your name and email when you sign up for a free experience, join the list, buy something, book a session, apply to a program or fill out a form. Anything you write in forms, intake questions and messages to us.

Things you buy. What you bought, when, and your billing name and email. Your card details go straight to our payment processors. We never see or store your full card number.

Messages on social media. If you comment or message us on Instagram or another platform, we (and any automated reply tools we use) can see your message and your public profile name.

Things we collect automatically. Where our tracking tools are on (see section 05), they can record which pages you visit, what you tap and scroll, your device and browser type, your approximate location (city or country, never your street), and how you found us. Our screen-replay tool records anonymized screen activity so we can see where people get stuck. We set it to hide what you type into forms and the photo you add to your badge.

Your badge photo. The photo you add to your Department ID badge is handled inside your own browser. It is not uploaded anywhere, and we never receive it.

03 How we use it

  • To deliver what you signed up for or bought: the audio, the library, the sessions, the community.
  • To email you. You can unsubscribe in any email, any time.
  • To understand what is working and fix what confuses people. (Yes, we watch where people get lost on the site, so we can un-lose them.)
  • To advertise: to show our ads to people who might like this room, and to skip people who are already in it.
  • To keep the site secure, keep our records, and follow the law (taxes, for example).

04 Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information for money. We do share it with the companies that help us run the Department:

  • Our website and email platform. Hosts this site, checkout, the member library and our email.
  • Payment processors. Handle your payment.
  • Messaging and automation tools. Send replies, reminders and delivery emails.
  • An analytics provider. Tells us which pages get visited.
  • A screen-replay provider. Shows us anonymized recordings of how the site gets used.
  • Advertising partners. Their tools on our site help us measure and show our ads. We may also upload our email list to an advertising platform, in scrambled (hashed) form, so it can show our ads to similar people or leave out people who already bought.
  • Store and fulfillment partners. If you buy merch, a separate store and a print partner receive your name, shipping address and order.
  • Tools you choose to use. Scheduling, calendar and group chat apps. They have their own policies.
  • Advisors and authorities. Lawyers, accountants and officials when we have to, and a future owner if the business is ever sold.

Under some state laws, letting an advertising partner’s tool run on a website counts as “sharing” for advertising. If you want out, email us and we will remove you from any advertising lists we have uploaded.

05 Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small files your browser keeps so a site can remember you. Websites like ours use a few kinds:

Kind
What it does
Europe, UK, Switzerland
Essential
Keeps the site, checkout and member login working.
On
Analytics
Counts visits and shows us which pages and links work.
Off
Screen replay
Anonymized recordings of taps and scrolls, so we can fix confusing pages.

Off

If you visit from Europe, the UK or Switzerland, we turn off analytics, screen-replay and advertising tools for you. We work out where you are from your device’s time zone, so this is a best effort, not a guarantee. Elsewhere those tools are on. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some things (like staying signed in) may not. You can also turn off ad personalization in your own social media and ad accounts. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to turn these tools off for you, wherever you are.

06 Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe. There is a link at the bottom of every email.
  • See, fix or delete. Ask for a copy of what we have, correct it, or have it deleted.
  • Opt out of advertising use. Ask us to take you off any advertising lists.
  • No penalty. We will not treat you differently for asking.

Email [email protected]. We may need to confirm it is really you, and we will reply within 45 days. We offer these choices to everyone, wherever you live. If you are in Europe, the UK or Switzerland, you can also object to or restrict how we use your information, ask for a portable copy, and complain to your local data protection authority.

Our reasons for using your information: you asked us to (signing up, buying), you agreed (marketing emails), it is needed to run and protect the business, or the law requires it.

07 How long we keep it

Your name and email stay on our list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require, often up to seven years. Analytics and replay data are kept for the period our providers set, then removed.

08 Where it lives, and how we protect it

We are based in the United States, so your information is handled here and by our providers, who may store it in other countries. We use reasonable safeguards, but no system is perfect and we cannot promise absolute security.

09 Children

The Department is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

10 Links to other sites

We link to Instagram, Telegram, podcast apps and other places. They have their own policies, and we do not control them.

11 Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date below. If the change is big, we will tell you by email.
